The DJI Inspire 1 Pro is an updated version of the ground-breaking Inspire 1 — the camera equipped drone that blurred the border between hobbyist UAV and professional filmmaking rig.
The Inspire 1 Pro packs some pretty awesome features. Weighing in at about 6.5 lbs, this thing is a heavy duty machine. It tops out at 49mph max speed and can ascend/descend very quickly β about 16.4 ft/s and 13.1 ft/s, respectively. Although it will depend on your area and the conditions there, itβs capable of climbing a whopping 15,000 feet into the sky.
The included battery clocks in at 4500mAh, providing 18 minutes of flight time β however, a 5700mAh battery is also available via DJI that provides about 22 minutes of flight time.
Where the Inspire 1 Pro really shines, however, is the camera. It comes included with the Zenmuse X5, but can also be ordered with the Zenmuse X5R. Both options are Micro Four Thirds mounts with interchangeable lenses. This is the first ready to fly drone with interchangeable lenses.
Both the X5 and X5R are very impressive, far surpassing the previous X3 model. The included X5 shoots 4k Video, with 1080 video at 60fps, snaps 16MP photographs, and has an awesome 12.8 stops of dynamic range. The ISO capabilities also totally eclipses the X3 with a range of 100-25600.
The X5R will cost you an extra pretty penny, but is even more impressive as it implements the ability to shoot in Cinema DNG Raw format. Yes, Raw β on a drone.
DJI offers a few lenses for both options.
The Inspire 1 Pro with the Zenmuse X5 Camera retails at $3,399, while the package with the X5R (and also a dual remote controller) retails at $5,399.
Overall, we love the Inspire 1 Pro, and both camera options totally blew us out of the water.
