As expected, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released flight restrictions for Super Bowl drone activity this weekend. However, in addition to manned aircraft, the restrictions specifically state that no UAVs, models, drones, or similar may be flown within a 34.5 mile radius surrounding the Houston stadium. Many drone enthusiasts believe this radius is extremely excessive for UAV and drone purposes, as the limited distance and battery life wouldn’t allow a drone to travel anywhere near a thirty mile distance.
The Super Bowl Drone restrictions will be enforced in Houston, Texas on Sunday, February 5th from 4PM to 11:59PM CST. Violation of these restrictions will result in criminal charges.
